A left-wing activist and former comedy writer has launched an online campaign demanding that Barron Trump be conscripted into the U.S. military and deployed to a war zone, targeting the 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump in a stunt that underscores the lefts growing willingness to drag political opponents children into the public crossfire.
According to Breitbart, Toby Morton, 50, who operates a network of fake-news parody sites and describes himself as a creator of Anti-Fascist Websites, has unveiled DraftBarronTrump.com just as President Trump intensifies military operations in Iran aimed at dismantling the fascist Iranian mullah regime. The site, framed as a mock draft effort, is less satire than spite, using Barron as a political prop while Morton himself appears never to have worn a U.S. uniform.
Mortons attack on Barron opens with a pitch that mimics patriotic rhetoric while clearly mocking the Trump family. America is strong because its leaders are strong. President Trump proves that every day. Naturally, his son Barron is more than ready to defend the country his father so boldly commands. Service is honor. Strength is inherited.
The site then sneers, Dog Bless Barron, a deliberate distortion of the traditional invocation of God that many Americans regard as sacred. It goes on to proclaim, This site is dedicated to honoring the strongest and bravest voices in war. When power is projected abroad, it is only right that strength exists at home. If youre looking for proven genes, inherited courage, and unquestionable resolve, look no further than the Trump family. Leadership starts somewhere.
Morton further fabricates quotes from President Trumps older sons, Eric and Donald Jr., in an effort to caricature the family. Donald Jrs fake quote claims, This moment is really about Barron, okay? Always has been. He represents strength, courage, and service. Ill be honoring that sacrifice in my own way, mainly by talking about it from a safe distance.
Eric Trump is portrayed as detached from reality with a rambling, invented statement about pancakes, reducing a serious subjectmilitary service and warto a punchline. In another section, Morton has President Trump supposedly declaring that people approach him with tears in their eyes to urge him to send Barron into combat, a familiar leftist trope used to mock the Presidents speaking style.
Despite his eagerness to dispatch someone elses son to the front lines, Morton appears to have no record of military service and has attempted to gin up a viral social media push with the hashtag #SendBarron. He previously grabbed headlines by purchasing trumpkennedycenter.org and .com domains, another example of his obsession with trolling the Trump family rather than engaging in substantive debate.
Barron Trump, currently a sophomore at NYUs Stern School of Business at its Washington, D.C., campus, is a private citizen pursuing his education, not a policymaker. Standing at 6-foot-9one inch above the U.S. Armys maximum height of 6-foot-8, a limit imposed because taller recruits cannot safely fit into many vehicles, aircraft, and other equipmenthe would in fact be disqualified from service under existing regulations, underscoring how detached Mortons campaign is from both decency and reality.
