Actor Robert De Niro unleashed a profanity-laced tirade against President Donald Trump, branding him the enemy of this country and insisting its up to us to get rid of him despite the presidents decisive 2024 electoral mandate.
According to Breitbart, De Niro made the remarks on Mondays episode of *The Best People With Nicolle Wallace* podcast, where he portrayed the United States as under siege from its own duly elected leader. The story is our country, and Trump is destroying it, and who knows what his reasons are, but its sick, its fucked up, De Niro declared, casting Trumps agenda as inherently illegitimate rather than the product of a democratic landslide.
We have to save the country, the *Raging Bull* star insisted, before proclaiming, Trump is the enemy of this country, and warning, Lets not kid ourselves. Its that simple. Everybody has to stick together to get them out and get back on track. He then escalated his rhetoric into a mantra of perpetual opposition, saying, People have to resist, resist, resist, resist, resist. Thats the only way.
The episode was released just one day after an armed man was shot and killed at Mar-a-Lago, the presidents Florida resort, yet De Niro pressed ahead with language that many conservatives would view as inflammatory in an already tense political climate. The actor went further, urging Americans to neutralize the MAGA movement, treating tens of millions of voters as a threat to be contained rather than fellow citizens to be persuaded.
People are not going to go away even if Trump dies for some reason, by having an illness or something part of that movement are still there, and thats the scary part, De Niro said, describing the enduring appeal of Trumps message as a danger rather than a sign of deep public dissatisfaction with the political establishment. It has to be neutralized by the people, the *Taxi Driver* actor added, suggesting a kind of social or political quarantine for Trump supporters.
Elsewhere in the conversation, De Niro repeated, We gotta get rid of him. Hes going to ruin the country, and claimed world leaders are right for thinking Trump is crazy because he speaks bluntly, a trait many conservatives regard as refreshing honesty in contrast to scripted political doublespeak. He then stoked further alarm by asserting that President Trump will refuse to leave office after his second term, insisting, He will never leave. We have to make him leave, and, He wont leave. Lets not kid ourselves. He will not leave. Its up to us to get rid of him.
Toward the end of the interview, after effectively calling for the neutralization of more than 77 million Americans who backed Trump, De Niro shifted tone and grew emotional, saying, You have to lift people up, you have to bring them together, period. You cant divide people, even as his own rhetoric underscored the deep cultural and political divide he was helping to widen.
