Ex-Husband Of Jill Biden, William Stevenson, Pleads Not Guilty To Murder Charges In Delaware

A Delaware man once married to Jill Biden has pleaded not guilty to charges that he murdered his second wife at their Wilmington home.

According to Fox News, William Stevenson, 77, entered the plea on Tuesday after being charged on Feb. 3 with killing his wife, 64-year-old Linda Stevenson, who was discovered unresponsive at their residence on Dec. 28. He remains held on $2 million bail as the case proceeds, underscoring the seriousness of the allegations now surrounding a figure long known in Delaware social and political circles.

Linda Stevenson, who operated a bookkeeping business, was remembered in her obituary as a devoted mother and grandmother and an avid Philadelphia Eagles supporter, yet the notice made no mention of her husband despite their 40-year marriage. William Stevenson, founder of the well-known Delaware music venue Stone Balloon, appeared remotely for Tuesdays court hearing as prosecutors outlined the murder charge.

"The pain of losing her is paralyzing and the emptiness in my heart is an abyss," her daughter, Christine Vettori, wrote on Facebook after Lindas death. "Most days I can barely breathe."

Stevenson married Jill Biden in 1970, when she was an 18-year-old University of Delaware student and he was 23, but the marriage ended in divorce after five years. He later remained openly critical of his ex-wife, though he insisted he was not consumed by resentment over the breakup.

"Im not bitter because, if it wasn't for my divorce, I would never have met my wife Linda and she's the greatest thing in my life," Bill told the Daily Mail in a 2020 interview. Jill Biden later married Joe Biden, who served in the White House from January 2021 to January 2025, and whose office, along with Jill Bidens, has been contacted by Fox News Digital for comment as the case raises renewed scrutiny of the Biden familys past associations.
