CNN Circling The Drain? Stunning New Numbers Reveal Just How Far The Network Has Fallen

CNN, long a bastion of liberal commentary and anti-Trump narratives, is now confronting a steep collapse in audience trust and viewership that mirrors the crisis engulfing the Washington Post.

According to Gateway Pundit, the far-left, Russia-collusion-hoaxpeddling network has reportedly shed almost a third of its audience since 2016, confirming what many conservatives have argued for years: It turns out the public eventually walks away if you keep on lying to them. With the singular exception of commentator Scott Jennings, the network pushes an anti-Trump agenda on a daily basis, 365 days a year, a strategy that may have pleased progressive activists but has clearly alienated a broad swath of Americans.

The Daily Mail reports: CNN has lost nearly two-thirds of its viewership since 2016 amid growing fears network is circling the drain. CNN has lost nearly two-thirds of its primetime viewers over the past decade, figures show.

The decrease, from roughly 1.3 million in 2016 to 553,000 now, is fueling rumors of a possible network sale something CNNs up-for-grabs parent company has vehemently denied. The results recorded this month by Nielsen are actually an improvement from January, when stars like Jake Tapper, Anderson Cooper, Erin Burnett, and Kaitlan Collins only secured 488,000 sets of eyes.

The networks daytime lineup has seen a similar decline as hosts such as Wolf Blitzer failed to move the needle, dropping from 752,000 to 433,000. When compared to the same part of the year in 2021, the drops were even more pronounced 71 percent for primetime and 73 percent during the day.

Several network executives told the Daily Mail that the results were worrisome, even amid broader industry trends. A CNN source, meanwhile, blamed the poor showing on audiences consuming news through alternative means.

People are talking about this on Twitter/X, where many users argue that CNNs troubles are self-inflicted after years of hostility toward President Donald Trump and his supporters. Just like the Washington Post, CNN earned this situation, as critics note, insisting that a lot of people who still work for them should have been fired after the 2016 election, when they were completely wrong back then and they still are today.
