Watch: Democrat Governor Shapiro Torches Philly DA For Comparing ICE To Nazis

Pennsylvanias Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro publicly rebuked Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner on Thursday after Krasner likened federal immigration authorities to Nazis during a recent appearance on Fox News Channels Special Report."

As reported by Breitbart, the controversy erupted after host Bret Baier aired video of Krasners remarks and then pressed Shapiro for a response, asking, Whats your take on that? Shapiro did not mince words, declaring, That kind of rhetoric is unacceptable, it is abhorrent, and it is wrong, period, hard stop, end of sentence.

Shapiro, who has often tried to present himself as a pragmatic Democrat, went on to stress the need for more measured public discourse, particularly as progressive prosecutors like Krasner face mounting criticism for soft-on-crime policies. I think what we need and Ive called for this in Minnesota, and Ive practiced this in Pennsylvania is we need to bring down the rhetoric, bring down the temperature, and create calm in the community, he said.

In a notable break from the national Democrat line, Shapiro also pointed to the broader consequences of the current administrations approach to immigration and public safety. I believe that the presidents policies have injected chaos onto the streets of Minnesota. Ive been very outspoken about that. You may disagree with that statement, but I believe that to be true. I think we have seen that, he added, implicitly underscoring conservative concerns about border security and law enforcement.

Shapiro concluded by reiterating that his focus in Pennsylvania is on stability and order, a stance that stands in stark contrast to Krasners inflammatory comparison of ICE agents to Nazis. What we are trying to do in Pennsylvania is bring down the temperature, and rhetoric like that is not helpful, he said, highlighting a growing divide within the Democratic Party over crime, immigration, and respect for law enforcement.
