Breitbart News Second Amendment columnist AWR Hawkins used his national radio appearance to draw a sharp contrast between Kyle Rittenhouses self-defense case and a recent incident in Minnesota.
According to Breitbart, Hawkins made his remarks during The Alex Marlow Show, where he cautioned against irresponsible open carry in tense law-enforcement environments. He argued that context matters greatly in gun rights debates, especially when the left is eager to conflate lawful self-defense with provocative behavior in order to undermine the Second Amendment.
Hawkins said, Its not a good place to walk in carrying a gun, particularly if youre going to walk right at police officers or federal law enforcement officers. It just doesnt make sense. Completely different animal than what Kyle was in, completely different.
His comments underscored a key conservative principle: responsible gun ownership requires prudence, not just legal permission, and Rittenhouses situation in Kenosha should not be casually equated with confrontational displays near officers.
