Trump Singles Out Walz And Frey In Explosive AntiSanctuary City Push

President Donald Trump is demanding that Congress swiftly terminate sanctuary city policies and is pressing every Democrat governor and mayor in the nation to cooperate fully with his administration in enforcing federal immigration law.

According to WND, the former president used a lengthy post on Truth Social to lay down a direct challenge to Democrat leaders, singling out Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey by name.

I am hereby calling on [Minnesota] Governor [Tim] Walz, [Minneapolis] Mayor [Jacob] Frey, and EVERY Democrat Governor and Mayor in the United States of America to formally cooperate with the Trump Administration to enforce our Nations Laws, rather than resist and stoke the flames of Division, Chaos, and Violence, Trump declared.

Trumps message laid out four concrete demands aimed at dismantling the sanctuary framework that shields criminal illegal aliens from federal authorities. First, he insisted that Governor Walz and Mayor Frey should turn over all Criminal Illegal Aliens that are currently incarcerated in their State Prisons and Jails to Federal Authorities, along with all Illegal Criminals with an active warrant or known Criminal History, for Immediate Deportation.

Second, Trump said State and Local Law Enforcement must agree to turn over all Illegal Aliens arrested by Local Police, making clear that local jurisdictions should not be safe havens for those in the country unlawfully. Third, he added that Local Police must assist Federal Law Enforcement in apprehending and detaining Illegal Aliens who are wanted for Crimes, underscoring the need for coordinated law enforcement rather than politically driven obstruction.

Fourth, Trump called on Democrat officials to abandon ideological posturing and prioritize public safety. Democrat Politicians must partner with the Federal Government to protect American Citizens in the rapid removal of all Criminal Illegal Aliens in our Country. Some Democrats, in places like Memphis, Tennessee, or Washington, D.C., have done so, resulting in safer streets for ALL, he noted, pointing to jurisdictions that have seen benefits from cooperation.

Trump then broadened his appeal to Capitol Hill, urging lawmakers to act decisively against sanctuary policies that undermine federal law. In addition, I am hereby calling on the United States Congress to immediately pass Legislation to END Sanctuary Cities, which is the root cause of all of these problems. American Cities should be Safe Sanctuaries for Law Abiding American Citizens ONLY, not Illegal Alien Criminals who broke our Nations Laws, he wrote.

Framing his demands as basic prudence rather than partisanship, Trump argued that his proposals reflect the will of Americans who are tired of chaos and crime linked to illegal immigration. All of these requests are rooted in COMMON SENSE, and will provide the best possible circumstances to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! The Trump Administration is standing by, and waiting for ANY Democrat to do the right thing, and work with us on these important matters of MAKING AMERICA SAFE like it is in all sections of our Country where we are, together with Local Leadership, participating and involved, he added.

On Capitol Hill, some Republicans are already moving in lockstep with Trumps call for action against sanctuary jurisdictions. On Sunday, U.S. Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif., told Fox News that he introduced the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act to bar sanctuary cities nationwide, enabling immigration enforcement to proceed in an orderly way focused on public safety.

Kiley stressed that the goal is not partisan escalation but restoring order and preventing further loss of life tied to lax enforcement. Its time to pass this bill, turn down the temperature, and find common ground to stop further tragedies, Kiley said, signaling that genuine common ground begins with enforcing existing law rather than ignoring it.

Trumps Truth Social post also drew swift praise from one of his closest allies in the Senate, who framed the proposal as both politically viable and overwhelmingly popular with the public. After reviewing the plan, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., responded Sunday: Wow. Home run solution, Mr. President, to the chaos facing our country from sanctuary city policies. You and your team have come up with a remedy that Democrats should accept and America needs.

Graham emphasized that Trumps approach is built on two pillars: targeted enforcement against dangerous offenders and a permanent end to sanctuary policies that invite abuse. It consists of two parts: Reasonable cooperation between the federal government and sanctuary cities and states to ensure we have control over violent, convicted felons facing deportation and others who present a public safety risk. Ninety percent of Americans support this, and cities and states should do that for public safety. As to non-violent offenders, they will go into an orderly process of immigration disposition, he explained.

The South Carolina senator also welcomed Trumps pledge to eradicate sanctuary policies altogether, arguing that such measures have turned liberal jurisdictions into magnets for illegal immigration and fraud. Second and equally important: Your commitment, Mr. President, to ending sanctuary city policies forever is welcome news to me. In my view, sanctuary cities incentivize massive fraud like we have seen in Minnesota. They continue to be a magnet for illegal immigration because if you get to one of these sanctuary cities, you wrongfully stay in America, Graham said.

Graham warned that when blue-state politicians defy federal law, the result is not compassion but disorder and danger for law-abiding citizens. Finally, sanctuary city policies lead to chaos because states and local governments ignore federal laws that have been on the books for decades. As for my part, I will champion a legislative effort to end sanctuary city policies forever, which could lead to rational immigration reform. I hope Democrats will see the wisdom of this, and the Senate will come together to end sanctuary city policies that are net losers for the country, he added.

Appealing directly to Democrats, Graham urged them to put aside personal animus toward Trump and instead act in the national interest. To my Democratic colleagues, I know you may not like President Trump, but you have to love the country. I have done things with Democrats on numerous occasions that were not popular with my base but were good for the country. I ask that you do the same now, he said, framing cooperation on immigration enforcement as a test of genuine patriotism rather than party loyalty.

As the debate over sanctuary cities intensifies, Trump and his allies are clearly positioning the issue as a stark choice between the rule of law and progressive experiments that have left many communities less safe.

With legislation such as Kileys No Sanctuary for Criminals Act and Grahams promised Senate push, conservatives are betting that voters will side with a straightforward proposition: American cities should protect citizens first, enforce federal law consistently, and refuse to serve as havens for those who break the nations immigration laws.
