On Tuesday night, photo agency Backgrid USA responded to allegations that their photographers were aggressively pursuing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in Manhattan.

Harry and Meghan left the Ziegfeld Theater in Midtown with Meghans mother at approximately 9:50 PM following the show they had seen. They were followed by paparazzi, who could not get any pictures of the three after they left the theater. Shortly after that, a representative for the couple said they were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.

However, the company also spoke out in this situation and said that its photographers had no intention of causing any distress or harm, as their only tool was their cameras.

Entertainment Today reports that the company statement on this issue said: At Backgrid USA Inc., we value transparency and ethics in journalism, which include providing fair and factual responses to claims, and We are aware of Prince Harrys statement regarding an alleged near catastrophic car chase involving himself, Meghan Markle, and her mother, in New York City on Tuesday night.

The statement then continued by saying: We want to clarify that we have received photos and videos of last nights events from four freelance photographers, three of whom were in cars and one of whom was riding a bicycle,

Then the statement wrapped up: It is important to note that these photographers have a professional responsibility to cover newsworthy events and personalities, including public figures such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The photographers hired to get these pictures were freelance photographers, and they alleged one of the four SUVs from Prince Harrys security escort was driving in a manner that could be perceived as reckless. The vehicle was seen blocking off streets, and in one video, it is shown being pulled over by the police.

Backgrid also released information contradicting what Harry and Meghans representatives had stated. The company said, According to the photographers present, there were no near-collisions or near-crashes during this incident.

The photo agency went on to say that it will continue to look into the incident and that it does not condone any illegal activity. The statement concluded: We are taking Prince Harrys allegations seriously and will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
