The former college athlete Riley Gaines states that even liberals are backing her cause to protect womens sports.
Fox News reports that Gaines stated she had had some amazing support from liberal individuals.
Speaking with Fox News Digital, Gaines said: I have gotten messages from women and men who are lifelong liberals, who once prided themselves, especially women, on the original feminist movement, who are seeing whats happening with the Democrat party now.
Gaines said: Just a few weeks ago, all [Democrats] in the U.S. House voted no on protecting women and girls in sports.
She continued by saying: The amount of support Ive had from liberal women who, again, consider themselves feminists is amazing. These are women who are sick of their own party. These representatives are not listening to their constituents, and these women have had enough.
Gaines accused Democrats, including President Biden, of ignoring women in sports in favor of transgender athletes.
Gaines said: The people in charge, the governing bodies, the representatives, the senators, especially on the left, they are ignoring the demands of women, and Were asking for the bare minimum. We want fairness, we want privacy, we want safety, and we want respect, and theyre ignoring that. Gaines appeared on Capitol Hill to reveal the House Republicans Womens Bill of Rights. A press conference on Wednesday about the bill stated that the bill would offer a concrete definition of a woman in federal law.
She said: It doesnt prevent any laws from being passed for any other protected group. It doesnt change any pre-existing laws. It simply defines the word woman, codifies the term.
For example, Gaines stated that the House-passed Fairness In Womens Sports Act was phenomenal, but also questioned: What longevity does it have if we cant define the word woman? And thats what this does. It gives longevity to bills such as the sports bill.
It is highly unlikely that the House bill will get enough Democrat support in the Senate to move on to the Presidents desk. Even if it did, the President would likely veto the bill. He said he would veto such a bill last month if it arrived at his desk. Rep. Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz. Even recognized this likelihood as she introduced Gaines at the press conference. Still, they must press on.
