Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett is facing rare public rebukes from within her own ideological camp, as left-leaning media figures urge listeners not to bankroll her political rise.
According to the Daily Caller, Crockett became the target of pointed criticism during Thursdays episode of the pop culture podcast La Culturistas, where former Saturday Night Live cast member Bowen Yang and cohost Matt Rogers openly discouraged financial support for the congresswoman. Dont waste your money sending to Jasmine Crockett, Rogers said, prompting Yang to immediately echo the sentiment: I must agree.
Rogers pressed the point repeatedly, warning progressive donors against pouring scarce resources into a candidate he views as a poor investment. Dont do it. Dont. Youre going to waste your money. Take it from someone who sent Sara Gideon a ton of money in Maine. Just dont do it. Dont waste your money. Dont do it, Rogers added, as Yang underscored the concern with a blunt reminder: Its hard enough to come by.
While insisting he held no personal animus toward Crockett, Rogers argued that her political persona is already too rigidly defined to succeed beyond her safely blue district. He described her as too well-defined to win statewide or nationally, adding, Shes not going to win a Senate seat in Texas, you guys, and driving the point home with a comparison many Democrats would rather forget: Like, if Beto ORourke couldnt do it, Jasmine Crockett is not going to do it.
For conservatives, the spectacle of progressive commentators warning their own audience against funding another high-profile, media-driven Democrat underscores a familiar pattern of style over substance on the left. As Democrats continue to chase celebrity candidates who play well on cable news but falter with real voters, even their allies are beginning to question whether pouring more money into such campaigns is anything more than an expensive exercise in wishful thinking.
