Trump And Netanyahu Hand Hamas 60-Day Deadline To Disarm

President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have reportedly set a two-month ultimatum for Hamas to disarm, as detailed in a report by Israel Hayom.

During a joint appearance with Netanyahu, President Trump issued a stern warning to the terror group, stating there would be "hell to pay" should they fail to comply with the disarmament demand. He also indicated that the United States would back Israel in resuming its extensive bombing campaign in Gaza if necessary.

According to One America News, this deadline aligns with the second phase of a ceasefire agreement brokered by President Trump, which places the disarmament of Hamas at its core.

At a press conference held at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump asserted that Hamas had agreed to disarm. However, the group has consistently maintained that it will not lay down its arms unless there is significant progress towards the establishment of a Palestinian state. "If they dont disarm as they agreed to do they agreed to it then there will be hell to pay for them. And we dont want that. Were not looking for that," Trump emphasized on Monday. The Israel Hayom report, from the outlet owned by Trump supporter Miriam Adelson, also noted that the agreement includes dismantling Hamas's underground tunnel network.

In a conversation with NPR earlier in December, senior Hamas official Bassem Naim expressed a conditional willingness to cease using weapons, stating, "I mean, not to use it for five, seven, 10 years, as long as we are not attacked, because the second question is always, OK, Palestinians have to be disarmed. What about the other side?" Meanwhile, Netanyahu has remained steadfast in his opposition to the creation of a Palestinian state. In late November, he declared, "There will not be a Palestinian state. Its very simple: it will not be established."

Netanyahu's firm stance could potentially deter Hamas from disarming, as the group's primary condition for doing so is the establishment of a Palestinian nation. The situation remains tense, with the possibility of renewed conflict looming if the disarmament agreement is not honored.
