From the moment Donald Trump made his dramatic entrance down the golden escalator in 2015 to announce his presidential bid, it was evident that the entrenched Democratic establishment was poised against him.
This marked the beginning of what many consider one of the most significant lawfare campaigns in American history, as Trump, an outsider to the political machinery, threatened to disrupt the status quo.
According to RedState, Attorney General Pam Bondi has now called upon federal prosecutors to investigate this unprecedented legal warfare. Bondi has requested an inquiry into what she describes as an election-meddling conspiracy from the Obama-Biden era, which she claims shielded Democrats from criminal scrutiny while infringing upon the civil rights of Republicans, including President Trump and his supporters.
This revelation came as Bondi, recovering from eye surgery, responded in writing to questions, aligning herself with FBI Director Kash Patel. Patel had previously advocated for an investigation into the alleged weaponization of intelligence and law enforcement powers, tracing back to the Russia collusion case.
The federal government, Bondi asserts, actively obstructed investigations into figures such as Hillary Clinton. The approach Bondi suggests would enable prosecutors to pursue charges for alleged crimes beyond the statute of limitations, as they are linked to an ongoing conspiracy, akin to cases against organized crime syndicates.
"At my direction, our U.S. Attorneys and federal agents are actively investigating instances of government weaponization nationwide," Bondi stated. She described this as a "ten-year stain on the country committed by high-ranking officials against the American people."
The pressing question remains: what tangible outcomes can be expected from these investigations? Unfortunately, the answer may be disheartening. While Bondi's intentions appear genuine, the execution of her directive falls to career bureaucrats and entrenched political appointees. It is conceivable that some mid-level officials from the Obama and Biden administrations might face scrutiny or charges.
However, the prospect of high-profile figures like Hillary Clinton, Hunter or Joe Biden, or Barack Obama facing legal consequences seems improbable. Such a scenario would disrupt the delicate balance of power that few are willing to disturb.
The pervasive influence of the so-called "swamp" in Washington is profound, with its reach extending into various facets of the political landscape.
