A recent YouGov poll reveals that a significant 70% of Americans harbor little to no trust in the media's ability to fairly report on President Donald Trump's second term.
According to WND, this skepticism is not without precedent, as the Media Research Center previously found that a staggering 92% of major network media coverage during Trump's initial 100 days in office was negative. As the Trump administration approaches its one-year mark, several noteworthy achievements have emerged that have largely escaped the attention of mainstream media outlets.
One such story involves the president's decision to pardon 23 pro-life advocates who were convicted for activities such as praying outside abortion clinics and encouraging women to choose life. "They should not have been prosecuted. Many of them are elderly people. They should not have been prosecuted," President Trump stated.
These convictions were a result of actions taken by the Biden-Harris administration's Justice Department under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which targeted over 50 pro-life advocates. Following the pardons, ten individuals were released from prison, and several expressed their gratitude to the President.
Calvin Zastrow, 64, told The Daily Signal, "Im very thankful to the Lord to be pardoned and to get back into the fight against baby-murdering and to serve the Lord and to be with my family." Similarly, Paulette Harlow, 75, shared, "I really believe that President Trump saved my life... And I certainly would not have been able to have my back surgeries and everything that I needed to have and have taken care of."
In another significant move, President Trump reinstated the Mexico City Policy, which had been rescinded by President Joe Biden. The State Department announced plans to expand the policy's scope, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are not used for foreign abortions.
"The department will soon take additional steps to close loopholes that allowed taxpayer funding for promotion of abortion in previous iterations of the Mexico City Policy and expand the scope of the policy to ensure every penny of U.S. foreign assistance prioritizes American values, not the woke agenda," a senior State Department official told The Daily Signal.
This expanded policy will also prohibit U.S. funding for gender ideology and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, including the termination of a $2 million grant for gender-affirming operations in Guatemala.
Furthermore, the Trump administration has renewed America's membership in the Geneva Consensus Declaration, a coalition of 40 nations asserting that there is no international right to abortion. As of November, the State Department has begun classifying "destructive ideologies" previously promoted by the Biden administration as human rights violations.
The annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices will now include considerations of transgender procedures for minors, DEI hiring practices, attacks on free speech, and state-funded abortions. Member states will be required to report the number of abortions occurring within their borders and will face condemnation for funding abortions or distributing drugs that terminate pregnancies.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is also taking steps to reverse a Biden-era regulation that allowed taxpayer dollars to fund abortions for unaccompanied illegal alien children in the U.S. HHS officials informed The Daily Signal that they are working to align regulations with the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding for abortions. "HHS is reviewing the relevant regulations and guidance to ensure they align with all applicable laws, including the Hyde Amendment," an HHS official stated.
The Biden administration's proposed rule, which required the Office of Refugee Resettlement to facilitate access to medical services, including abortions, for unaccompanied children, was deemed a violation of the Hyde Amendment by Trump's Office of Legal Counsel.
In a bid to improve services for victims of human trafficking, the Trump administration has selected a new provider to manage its hotline, following complaints about the previous provider under the Biden administration. HHS' Administration for Children and Families announced a five-year, $35 million grant to Compass Connections to operate the hotline.
Acting Assistant Secretary Andrew Gradison told The Daily Signal, "State attorneys general were telling us that third-party tips were not getting delivered to law enforcement, so their investigations into human trafficking were hindered." The grant includes an annual increase of $1 million, bringing total funding to $7 million, underscoring Trump's commitment to combating human trafficking and supporting survivors.
These stories highlight the Trump administration's efforts to uphold conservative values and address issues that resonate with many Americans. Despite the lack of coverage from legacy media, these achievements reflect a commitment to protecting life, promoting American values, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly.
As the administration continues to navigate its second term, these initiatives serve as a testament to its dedication to enacting policies that align with conservative principles.
