In a tragic incident in Florida, a man fatally shot his wife and severely injured his stepdaughter before turning the gun on himself, following a dispute over an NFL game, as reported by law enforcement officials.

According to The Post Millennial, Jason Kenney, aged 47, ended his own life mere hours after taking the life of his wife, Crystal Kenney, on December 22. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd informed the media that the fatal altercation erupted when Crystal suggested that her husband switch off the NFL game between the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers.

The situation escalated as Kenney, who had been drinking, became increasingly agitated, prompting Crystal to instruct her 12-year-old son to dial 911. The boy, after seeking refuge at a neighbor's house, heard gunshots emanating from his home.

Upon arrival, police discovered Crystal Kenney deceased, and Jason Kenney's 13-year-old stepdaughter suffering from gunshot wounds to the face and shoulder. Fortunately, the stepdaughter is currently recuperating in a hospital.

"She said, I begged him, dont shoot me, dont shoot me, dont shoot me, and he shot me anyway, recounted Sheriff Judd. The young boy emerged unscathed from the ordeal, and the couple's 1-year-old daughter was found unharmed, asleep in her crib during the shooting. After the tragic events, Jason Kenney contacted his sister, confessing to having "done something wrong" and indicating it would be their final conversation.

He subsequently drove to his father's residence, where he took his own life in a shed as police attempted to apprehend him.

During a search of the Kenneys' home, authorities discovered a note from Crystal imploring her husband to seek help. "Youre drinking, youre using cocaine again. This is not the way the family should be. You need God, the note read, highlighting the family's struggles. Sheriff Judd lamented the devastation wrought by the crime, stating, "The entire family was destroyed. Our homicide detectives are distraught. When you go in there, there is a beautiful Christmas tree with lots of Christmas presents under it, just like the nuclear family should be."

The surviving children have been placed in the care of their grandparents, as the community grapples with the aftermath of this heartbreaking event.
