The festive season has taken an unexpected turn with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) unveiling a new video that combines holiday cheer with a stern message on immigration.
The video, featuring Santa Claus in a red bulletproof ICE vest, depicts him apprehending an illegal migrant, processing the individual at a federal facility, and subsequently deporting them via an "ICE Air" plane. This darkly humorous clip serves as a warning for illegal migrants to leave voluntarily to avoid being placed on Santa's "naughty list."
According to Sean Hannity, the release of this video coincides with South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem's announcement of a "home for the holidays" incentive. This initiative offers $3,000 per person to encourage illegal migrants to self-deport by December 31.
The agency's post on X, accompanying the video, reads: "AVOID ICE AIR AND SANTAS NAUGHTY LIST!" It further promotes the use of the CBP Home app, offering a financial incentive for self-deportation, valid through the end of 2025.
The Trump administration reports that this strategy is yielding positive results, with approximately 1.9 million illegal migrants having voluntarily self-deported since President Donald Trump resumed office. The administration initially introduced a $1,000 bonus and complimentary travel for those utilizing the CBP Home App in May, emphasizing that this method is significantly more cost-effective than the estimated $17,000 per case required for arrest, detention, and deportation.
This approach aligns with conservative values of fiscal responsibility and efficient government spending, highlighting a preference for voluntary compliance over costly enforcement measures.
