At the Turning Point USAs AmericaFest 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona, Vivek Ramaswamy took a firm stance against the notion of "Heritage Americans," a concept he argues is gaining momentum within certain factions of the "online right."

During his address at the conservative youth gathering, Ramaswamy challenged the idea that American identity is rooted in ancestry and lineage.

Theres a different vision of American identity thats emergent in certain corridors of the online right, Ramaswamy stated. And it says that your identity as an American is based on your lineage. That how long you have been in the country, your lineage and your genetics tied to the blood and soil of the country, determines how American you are.

According to Breitbart, Ramaswamy criticized the "Heritage American" ideology, which posits that true Americans are those whose families have been in the United States since or before the Revolutionary era. He dismissed this notion as about as loony as anything the woke left has actually put up, emphasizing that there is no American who is more American than somebody else.

Ramaswamy articulated his perspective on national identity with clarity, contrasting it with progressive views. Its not like the left. They believe in this nonbinary stuff. Theres no nonbinary American. It is binary. Either youre an American or youre not. His remarks underscore a commitment to a unified American identity, rejecting divisive narratives based on heritage or lineage.

This approach aligns with conservative values that prioritize individual freedom and equality under the law, rather than distinctions based on ancestry.
