A Toronto resident, Waleed Khan, aged 26, has been apprehended under allegations of collaborating with ISIS to disseminate information and engage in murder.
Khan faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, providing financial and material support, and facilitating terrorist activities for ISIS. Authorities claim these offenses transpired between June 17 and August 17.
As reported by The Post Millennial, Khan, alongside two other individuals, Osman Azizov, 18, and Fahad Sadaat, 19, is also implicated in violent kidnapping attempts targeting women and members of the Jewish community. These additional suspects were detained in connection with two purported kidnapping attempts in Toronto during May and June.
In May, authorities allege that a woman was confronted by the trio, with one suspect allegedly wielding a firearm and another brandishing a knife. The suspects reportedly attempted to coerce the woman into a vehicle but retreated when another individual intervened. The following month, the men allegedly pursued two women while armed with a handgun, a rifle, and a knife.
Fox News reports that investigators subsequently apprehended the men, uncovering firearms and evidence indicative of hate crimes against the Jewish community. Collectively, the trio faces 79 charges, encompassing conspiracy to commit kidnapping and hostage-taking, weapons possession, sexual assault, and additional offenses.
Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah remarked, What began as armed, coordinated attempts to kidnap women led to significant arrests and charges, stopping a dangerous escalation of hate-motivated crimes and terrorism across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
He expressed gratitude to the investigators and partners at the Toronto Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for their collaborative efforts in safeguarding the community.
