Green Bay's former teammates Aaron Rodgers and David Bakhtiari criticized Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., after a Twitter thread by Unusual Whales scrutinized some of her "unusual" stock trades.
According to the report, Feinstein's trades allegedly helped her net worth reach $200 million over the last decade or so.
Bakhtiari expressed dissatisfaction with the report, tweeting, "How are we as a nation just cool with actions like this? Its cheating in broad daylight." Rodgers appeared to agree, adding a gif of Ryan Reynolds in the movie "Free Guy" with the caption, "Finally Dave, (hashtag) this gif is you."
Unusual Whales reported that Feinstein or her late husband, Richard Blum, sold millions in Allogene Therapeutics stock before the market crashed in 2020 and made a $1 million purchase in Amyris Biotechnologies in 2009 before the company received a government contract. Feinstein was among the lawmakers who were the subject of a Justice Department probe.
However, Feinstein denied any wrongdoing and said their investment advisers made the trades, and they didnt learn about it until after the fact.
Fox News reported that a spokesman for Feinstein told them in May 2020, "Senator Feinstein was asked some basic questions by law enforcement about her husbands stock transactions, as I think all offices in the initial story were. She was happy to voluntarily answer those questions to set the record straight and provided additional documents to show she had no involvement in her husbands transactions. There have been no follow-up actions on this issue."
