President Donald Trump's administration has paid tribute to Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, a National Guard member who tragically lost her life in a violent incident near the White House.
In a solemn gesture, the White House ordered all flags on its grounds to be flown at half-staff following Beckstrom's death on November 27, Thanksgiving Day. The suspect in this case is an Afghan national with alleged ties to the CIA, accused of shooting Beckstrom and Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe in Washington, D.C., the day before her passing. Beckstrom was just 20 years old.
According to The Blaze, the Biden administration has faced criticism for its decision to bring the alleged shooter to the United States. This decision was reportedly justified by the suspect's previous collaboration with the U.S. government, including the CIA, as part of a partner force in Kandahar. This partnership concluded shortly after the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe commented on the situation, stating, "In the wake of the disastrous Biden withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Biden administration justified bringing the alleged shooter to the United States in September 2021 due to his prior work with the U.S. government."
The proclamation from Trump's administration extends the honor of lowered flags to "all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, December 4, 2025."
This tribute will also be observed at American embassies, legations, consular offices, and military facilities worldwide. Meanwhile, President Trump has announced plans to "permanently pause" migration from certain regions in response to Beckstrom's tragic murder, highlighting a commitment to national security and the protection of American citizens.
