Vice President Kamala Harris recently shared a TikTok video showcasing her culinary skills as she prepared Thanksgiving dinner alongside her nieces.

The video, which featured Harris making collard greens, has sparked a wave of commentary and speculation about her political aspirations. "We are preparing collard greens!" Harris enthusiastically declared in the clip.

As reported by Gateway Pundit, this isn't the first time Harris has drawn attention for her collard greens preparation. During a previous campaign trail stop in Georgia, she recounted to a voter how she once cleaned her greens in a bathtub due to the sheer volume she was preparing.

"I have a friend who had a Christmas party, Christmas Eve every year, and she asked me to make the greens for a party every year. And I am not lying to you that I would make so many greens that Id need to wash them in the bathtub. Im telling you the truth," Harris shared with a voter in 2024.

She also mentioned her preference for adding Tabasco sauce to enhance the flavor, a detail reminiscent of Hillary Clinton's attempts to connect with black voters through similar culinary anecdotes.

Harris's method for preparing collard greens includes a mix of traditional and personal touches. "My grandma used to put bacon. She used to put garlic. I put white vinegar. So I start with I slice up My garlic. But first I fry, chop up the bacon and get all that fat going. Then I put garlic, some chili peppers, and then a lot of water, and a little chicken stock. And I let it go for a while before I put the greens in. And then, right? So you get that going and all that flavor. And then I put the greens in for a couple of hours. Then I do vinegar, and then I cheat and do a little Tabasco," she explained.

Harris, who spent part of her upbringing in Canada with her Indian mother, expressed her fondness for "Louisiana hot" flavors, noting, "Yeah, because Tabasco, I like Louisiana hot. Tabasco has that right amount of vinegar. So thats how I do my green."

The Vice President's culinary display has not been without its critics. Social media users were quick to voice their skepticism, with one remarking, "Kamalas cooking is as authentic as her political career. Shows over, folks."

Another user commented on the appearance of the greens, stating, "Those are some wilted ass collards. I wont even feed greens that wilted to my bearded dragon. No one is eating those." The sentiment was echoed by another user who quipped, "Nothing warms your heart like a good old-fashioned ethnic charade."

Amidst the online chatter, questions linger about Harris's future political ambitions. Her choice to share this particular moment could be seen as an attempt to connect with voters on a personal level, a strategy often employed by politicians seeking to bolster their public image.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how these culinary endeavors will play into Harris's broader political narrative.
