The Democratic Party's electoral messaging, for the past decade, has been largely centered on Donald Trump.
The President seems to be a constant presence in their campaign rhetoric, a strategy that appears to be their best pitch to the American electorate in the absence of fresh ideas.
This is particularly evident in a party that has been overtaken by socialists and other far-left radicals.
According to RedState, this year in Virginia, the Democratic Party attempted to portray Winsome Earle-Sears, the Republican candidate for governor, as a Trump loyalist. This portrayal was laughable, considering Earle-Sears had previously urged the GOP to move on from Trump after his 2022 presidential campaign announcement.
Notably, Trump did not endorse Earle-Sears, who was not a MAGA supporter. Despite this, the Democrats persisted with their messaging, linking her to Trump.
The Democrats' obsession with Trump is evident. However, as they aim to build on their 2025 electoral successes, they are reportedly seeking another "boogeyman" to target for the midterms. Trump will undoubtedly remain a part of the left's messaging, but they acknowledge that he won't always be around.
As a result, they have reportedly decided to make Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., their new target.
"Republicans see Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as an asset for the midterms. Democrats are trying to make him a liability," reported RedState.
Kennedy's most significant transgression, in the eyes of the Democrats, is his decision to leave the party. His alliance with Trump is seen as the ultimate betrayal, making him a lifelong enemy of the party his family once turned into a 20th-century powerhouse.
The Democrats are expected to use Kennedy's role as HHS secretary against him in their bid to regain the majority in the House or Senate. They are hoping that voters will associate Kennedy with disease outbreaks and rising insurance costs, rather than his popular criticisms of pharmaceutical companies and his focus on nutrition and wellness.
However, there is a risk in attacking Kennedy, who has garnered support from both parties for his Make America Health Again (MAHA) initiatives. The MAHA moms, a growing political force advocating for the removal of artificial dyes and seed oils from food products, have found a strong ally in Kennedy. Some Democrats may hesitate to cross them for the sake of scoring political points.
One Democrat who will certainly make RFK, Jr., a significant part of his campaign is Kennedy cousin Jack Schlossberg. Schlossberg recently announced his candidacy to replace retiring Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler (NY-12).
"President Trump is so obsessed with the Kennedys and the Kennedy name that he caged one and put in his cabinet a rabid dog in his cabinet. Put a collar on my cousin RFK Jr and has him there barking, spreading lies and misinformation," Schlossberg said.
As the midterms approach, it's clear that the Democrats' strategy of targeting prominent figures associated with Trump and conservative values will continue. Whether this strategy will yield the desired results remains to be seen.
