PragerU, long criticized by leftists as "not a real university," has taken a significant step toward academic legitimacy by offering courses that contribute to an accredited college degree.
This development marks a notable shift for the organization, which was founded by conservative radio host Dennis Prager. In a press release, PragerU stated, "For years, critics have gleefully reminded us that PragerU isnt a real university. Well, it just got real."
According to Breitbart, PragerU is now enabling students to earn college credit through a strategic partnership pathway. This initiative underscores the organization's commitment to teaching America's history through a lens of facts, values, and common sense, all while contributing to a degree.
The organization is collaborating with accredited institutions to offer comprehensive college-level courses in History and Civics, with Southeastern University being the first to join forces.
PragerU's inaugural course with Southeastern University is titled "Leaders & Legacies: American History Through Presidential Biographies." This course is structured around PragerU's acclaimed "5-Minute Video" series and will feature lectures from esteemed historians and scholars such as Allen Guelzo, Wilfred McClay, and Carol Swain. "Weve been accused of not being a real university so we decided to fix that," remarked PragerU CEO Marissa Streit.
She expressed gratitude to Southeastern University for facilitating the accreditation of PragerU materials across more than 15 campuses and online platforms. Streit emphasized, "PragerU has always believed in delivering serious, truthful, and values-based education."
Students at Southeastern University will have the opportunity to complete two courses that delve into America's history through its leaders and pivotal moments. The first course, launching in March 2026, will explore the evolution of the U.S. presidency and the nation itself, covering topics from "the miracle of the Founding to the dynamism of the Gilded Age."
The subsequent course, available in the summer of 2026, will examine the Progressive Era through to contemporary times.
PragerU has also made it clear that its college course series on American History is accessible to a broad audience. "Several options are available whether youre currently enrolled at a different university, a current high school student or homeschooler, or just want to increase your knowledge of American History!" the organization stated.
This inclusive approach allows individuals from various educational backgrounds to engage with the material.
For those eager to expand their understanding of American history, PragerU's college course series offers a unique opportunity. More information about these courses can be found on PragerU's website.
