During a recent appearance on CNN's "The Arena," Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) revealed her contemplation of a Senate bid, driven by her conviction that she could "expand the electorate" in Texas.
This potential candidacy comes amid a backdrop of political shifts and unexpected victories in various states.
Host Kasie Hunt broached the topic, stating, Youre thinking about running for Senate yourself. Crockett affirmed, I am absolutely thinking about running for Senate. Im hoping to have an answer within my inner circle, probably within the next week and a half or so. But I will tell you this, I will tell you that I completely understand those that are disappointed. I will tell you that on November 4, we won in places that we werent supposed to win in whether were looking at Georgia or whether were looking at Mississippi, or whether were looking at different parts of Virginia, where now were going to end up having a supermajority, as reported by Breitbart.
Crockett elaborated on her strategic approach, noting the deployment of a personal poll to gauge her standing, saying, I will also tell you that we have a poll that is currently in the field that went into the field on yesterday. I am waiting on those results. Its the first and only poll that Ive put out to be able to kind of understand where I really am. I dont want to rely just solely on third party polls.
Hunt responded, So basically youre polling yourself to try to make a decision about what you should do. Crockett clarified, Im polling to determine whether or not I can expand the electorate, and I believe that I can, but if I cant, I can tell you for sure 100% that I will not run.
Crockett's potential Senate run underscores the Democratic Party's efforts to broaden its appeal in traditionally conservative strongholds. Her decision hinges on the results of her internal polling, which she hopes will illuminate her capacity to galvanize a broader voter base.
