President Joe Biden has used former President Donald Trumps appearance on CNNs town hall on Wednesday to fundraise for his campaign.
In a tweet on Wednesday night, Biden asked people if they want four more years of that? and urged them to contribute to his campaign if they do not.
As reported by Breitbart News, Trump dominated the town hall event, speaking almost unopposed and dismissing moderator Kaitlan Collins politically biased and outdated questions. Collins attempted to begin the event with contentious topics and leftist narratives, from the 2020 election results to January 6 to accusations in the E. Jean Carroll case. However, Trump received a standing ovation at his introduction, which boded well for the former President.
Opponents of Trump expressed their displeasure over the fact that CNN gave him a platform to speak, referring to it as a Trump infomercial. Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) criticized CNN for losing total control of the town hall and allowing Trump to platform election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim.
Matt Fuller of the Daily Beast called the event an irresponsible disaster of journalism, while Meghan McCain lamented that it was a Trump infomercial.
Bidens fundraising tweet indicates the political divide between the two presidents and their supporters. While Trumps appearance on CNN was praised by his supporters, it was criticized by his opponents. Bidens tweet attempts to capitalize on this divide and rally his supporters to contribute to his campaign.
