A Colorado mother, Erin Lee, says her daughter was one of several children recruited by a teacher for an afterschool art club.
That sounds sweet and wholesome. However, it was unexpected when her daughter arrived at the secret club.
The shy girl loved art and was invited to the club by her art teacher. So, her parents consented to her attending. The club was actually about gender and sexual identity. The club also invited an outside presenter to discuss things with the students.
She told them that queer is the term used when you dont know what sexuality you are and that if you are not comfortable in your body, it means you are trans. The speaker explained what puberty blockers are and told students that their parents might not be safe. After that, the speaker explained that it is a great idea not to say to parents about the nature of the club or when they attend certain events.
The speaker has an organization called Skittles. It speaks with children 5-11 about gender and sexuality. Lee pointed out that her daughters art teacher pulled her aside and told her daughter that she didnt have to tell her parents.
Lee says that other parents did not know what the club was for several months because their children followed the rules and didnt tell them.
This has resulted in a massive lawsuit. Pam Bondi is the former Florida attorney general that is representing the families. Per Fox News, These are taxpayer-funded teachers who are doing this, she said. And we want to send a nationwide message to these school systems, these parents, and these school boards that parents govern their children, not these teachers, and were going to give them the tools that they need, our parents, to protect them against indoctrination and all of these crazy things that theyre doing.
The District has not commented on the lawsuit.
