The OKeefe Media Group (OMG) has unveiled a revealing undercover video that captures a California Democratic Party official candidly discussing strategic political maneuvers.
The footage, released on Wednesday, features Ross Pike, a regional director for the party, who oversees operations in Orange, Riverside, and San Diego counties. Pike is seen admitting to deliberate gerrymandering and outlining a potential scheme for Governor Gavin Newsom to channel Proposition 50 funds into a 2028 presidential campaign.
As reported by The Post Millennial, Pike elaborates on how Proposition 50 funds could be reallocated to bolster Newsoms future presidential aspirations, a move that could potentially breach state campaign finance regulations. Pike asserts that Newsom is not only the primary financial supporter of Proposition 50 but also its leading advocate, utilizing the initiative to position himself for a potential White House bid.
When questioned about Newsom's presidential ambitions, Pike responded, Probably, though he expressed uncertainty about his own support for such a campaign.
Pike conveyed his skepticism about a San Francisco Democrat running for the presidency, suggesting that Newsom might be perceived as excessively liberal. He noted that Newsom has attempted to appeal to moderate voters by taking public positions, such as opposing the participation of trans-identifying boys in girls sports.
Pike further explained the financial strategy Newsom might employ, stating, He [Newsom] doesnt have any committees open right now, but that doesnt mean he cant open a committee later and transfer the money. Pike described a scenario where Newsom could establish a new committee, raise funds, and subsequently transfer those funds to a presidential account if he decides to run.
When probed about Newsoms current fundraising activities, Pike identified Prop 50 as the focus, hinting that these funds could eventually be redirected to a political action committee. He is the major fundraiser of that initiative, Pike stated, acknowledging the potential legal gray area by adding, Depending on how you do it.
James OKeefe, the founder of OMG, contended that such actions would contravene California law, which limits the use of surplus campaign funds to specific purposes, such as charitable donations, returning money to donors, or transferring it to a similar campaign committee. The law explicitly prohibits the repurposing of funds raised for one initiative to support a different campaign.
Proposition 50, championed by Newsom, seeks to redraw Californias congressional districts, potentially adding up to five new Democratic seats, following a similar redistricting effort in Texas. The measure, which temporarily suspends the states independent redistricting commission, received widespread voter approval. Pike characterized the initiative as the Democratic Party intentionally gerrymandering, describing it as merely asking the voters for permission.
The revelations from the OMG video raise significant questions about the ethical and legal implications of such political strategies. The potential misuse of Proposition 50 funds for a presidential campaign underscores the ongoing debate over campaign finance laws and the integrity of democratic processes.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the scrutiny of these practices remains a critical issue for voters and policymakers alike.
