In a final push to rally the MAGA voters, President Donald Trump is making a significant monetary investment in the upcoming statewide elections in New Jersey and Virginia.
This move is seen as an attempt to mobilize Trump's supporters, who are often less active in off-year elections when Trump is not on the ballot.
According to Fox News, Trump's political team is tapping into the President's substantial political war chest, allocating approximately $1 million each to New Jersey and Virginia for microtargeting efforts aimed at boosting voter turnout.
"What you've seen just in the last couple of days is the president and all of our Republican forces have put even more money behind our efforts to turn out our votes because that's what it's gonna come down to," said Joe Gruters, chairman of the Trump-aligned Republican National Committee (RNC), on Fox News' "The Big Weekend Show."
Despite losing both New Jersey and Virginia in the previous presidential election, Trump made significant strides in both states. These two states are unique in holding gubernatorial elections the year following a presidential election, drawing considerable national attention. These elections are also perceived as a crucial indicator for the upcoming midterms, where the GOP will be defending its narrow House and Senate majorities.
This year's elections are also considered the first significant test of Trump's groundbreaking and dynamic agenda at the ballot box. The fresh injection of funds from Trump's political reserves, initially reported by Axios, is powering the RNC's 72-hour program designed to rally GOP voters in the final stretch before Election Day.
Republican strategists are identifying and reaching out to low-propensity GOP voters through phone-banking efforts and targeted digital and social media ads. "We have to have Republicans show up on Election Day if our candidates are gonna have a chance," Gruters emphasized.
Although Trump has not made any campaign stops in New Jersey or Virginia, he has reached out to supporters in both states. He held a tele-rally with term-limited Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin of Virginia and GOP gubernatorial nominee Jack Ciattarelli of New Jersey, aiming to boost GOP turnout in the state's races.
On the other hand, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has spent over $7 million a party record on voter turnout and organizing efforts this summer and fall in New Jersey, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. "I've always taken the position that every election matters, whether it's an on-year, off-year, whether it's a local election, a federal election, every inch of ground that we gain here adds up," DNC chair Ken Martin said in a Fox News Digital interview.
Current public opinion polls suggest that former Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger has a solid lead over Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in Virginia's gubernatorial race, while Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey is slightly ahead of Ciattarelli in the race to succeed term-limited Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy. "I do expect that we'll win those elections in New Jersey and Virginia," Martin said. "We feel pretty bullish about our chances."
The outcome of these elections will undoubtedly have significant implications for both parties, setting the stage for the midterms and potentially signaling the future direction of American politics.
