There is a tragic story coming out of LSU.
College student Madison Brooks died after allegedly being raped and then shoved out of a car into traffic, where she was struck and died.
Fox News reports that Brooks mom gave the media some terrifying details about what happened. Madison Brooks and her mother planned to meet on January 15 to unload the remainder of Brooks possessions so she could begin her Spring semester at LSU. However, that never happened because Madison Brooks was killed the night before.
Brooks was struck by a car and laid out dying on a busy Baton Rouge freeway in the rain. First responders arrived on the scene and took her to the hospital to try to save her. However, after all her trauma and injuries, they could not save her life.
Fox News reports that investigators initially believed Brooks had died in a tragic car accident. They didnt think criminal activity was involved. However, they reversed course on that after investigating further. Brooks mother insists that she immediately knew there had to be some criminal activity involved when she heard about what had happened to her daughter.
The driver that struck Brooks immediately called 911 to get people to the scene. Two other individuals pulled over and did everything they could to save her life. Unfortunately, it was not possible to save Brooks in this situation. Even first responders could not save her in this case.
Her mother took off with the hospital as her destination in mind. It was an hour and a half from her house, but she arrived as quickly as possible. She understood how serious the situation was and wanted to be there with her daughter.
The parents reached their daughter just in time to say goodbyes to her while she was still breathing.
We found out that shes not going to make it, so my first and only priority was spending the last few moments that she had with her, said Baustert.
Brooks grandmother, Bausterts mother, Mandy LeBlanc, said, Police were at the hospital when we got there. Cops were outside the door. I wasn't thinking about anything. I was concerned about keeping her stable.
The whole family is reeling from this, but they are doing their best to try to keep things together as successfully as possible. It is challenging in such circumstances, but they are doing everything they can to keep it together.
