Voter Disqualification: New Hampshire Resident Guilty Of Repeated Trump-Sign Theft And Damage, Loses Vote

In a striking display of the consequences of political intolerance, a New Hampshire man has been stripped of his voting rights following his repeated acts of vandalism and theft of Trump campaign signs from a neighbor's property.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle for free speech and political expression, particularly in the face of left-wing intolerance.

As reported by Gateway Pundit, the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office confirmed that 55-year-old Nick Moorhead of Northfield pleaded guilty in Franklin District Court to the charge of "unlawfully removing political signs." Moorhead confessed to repeatedly targeting a local resident's Trump sign, a series of actions that were not mere impulsive acts but a consistent pattern of politically motivated harassment.

Court documents unveiled that Moorhead was captured on camera on August 27 and 28, 2024, removing and damaging the Trump sign from the homeowner's yard. In response to the incessant vandalism, the homeowner relocated the sign closer to the house.

However, Moorhead returned on September 15, kicked the sign, and brazenly gestured offensively at one of the residents. Following an investigation, police arrested Moorhead on October 19, 2024.

The court imposed a fine of $310 on Moorhead, which included a $250 fine and a $60 penalty assessment. Yet, the most significant repercussion came under the New Hampshire Constitution, which revokes the voting rights of convicted individuals unless restored by the state Supreme Court. For Moorhead, who was so determined to suppress others' political voices, this outcome can be seen as a form of poetic justice.

The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office issued a reminder to the public to promptly report any suspected unlawful removal of political signs to local law enforcement or the Election Law Unit. The press release from the Attorney General's Office stated:

"Attorney General John Formella announces that Nick Moorhead (age 55) of Northfield, New Hampshire, pled guilty in Franklin District Court to one class B misdemeanor count of unlawfully removing political signs, contrary to RSA 664:17. Mr. Moorhead had removed political signs from the front yard of a private residence in Northfield prior to the November 5, 2024 State General Election.

The Court imposed a $250 fine plus $60 penalty assessment, for a total penalty of $310. Pursuant to Part I, Article 11 of the State Constitution, Mr. Moorheads right to vote in New Hampshire is terminated unless later restored by the New Hampshire Supreme Court."

The press release further emphasized that RSA 664:17 governs both the placement and removal of political advertising, and violations of the statute can result in civil or criminal penalties. It urged anyone who believes a political sign has been unlawfully erected or removed to contact the Election Law Unit or the owner of the property where the sign was erected.

This incident serves as a potent reminder of the importance of respecting political expression and the severe consequences that can follow when this respect is disregarded. It underscores the necessity of upholding free speech, even when it represents viewpoints that one may not agree with, a principle that is fundamental to the conservative perspective.
