The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed the detention of Sami Hamdi, a British journalist suspected of affiliations with the Islamic extremist group, the Muslim Brotherhood.

Currently held in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Hamdi faces deportation from the United States.

According to Breitbart, DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin expressed gratitude on social media, acknowledging the efforts of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and law enforcement personnel. McLaughlin stated, "Thanks to the work of @Sec_Noem and @SecRubio and the men and women of law enforcement, this individuals visa was revoked and he is in ICE custody pending removal."

She further emphasized, "Under President Trump, those who support terrorism and undermine American national security will not be allowed to work or visit this country." Hamdi's arrest occurred at San Francisco International Airport, as reported by the Guardian.

In the wake of Hamdi's detention, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued a statement condemning the arrest. They asserted that their "attorneys and partners" were actively working to "address this injustice," urging ICE to "immediately account for and release Mr. Hamdi."

CAIR criticized the situation, stating, "Our nation must stop abducting critics of the Israeli government at the behest of unhinged Israel First bigots. This is an Israel First policy, not an America First policy, and it must end."

Further insights into Hamdi's activities were shared by investigative journalist and activist Laura Loomer. In a post on social media, Loomer claimed that "sources at DHS" informed her of Hamdi's arrest by ICE as he was preparing to travel to Tampa, Florida. Loomer described Hamdi as an alleged "Muslim Brotherhood official" scheduled to "headline an event for a Jihadist, pro HAMAS and Muslim Brotherhood 501c3 group."

The arrest of Hamdi follows revelations by investigative journalist Amy Mek, who highlighted Hamdi's movements across the United States. Mek noted that Hamdi was "moving freely across" the country, engaging with audiences in mosques and universities. Mek alleged that Hamdi was involved in "training U.S. Muslims in digital agitation, electoral sabotage, and political warfare in alignment with the Muslim Brotherhood doctrine."

She further stated, "Sami Hamdi is not a journalist passing through America he is a deployed actor from an overseas cadre system that grooms Western Muslims for on-shore mobilization." Mek also pointed out Hamdi's "Documented Appearances in Brotherhood-tied training programs abroad with banned extremist figures" and his "Recorded talks in U.S. venues that recruit, condition, and operationalize activists inside American institutions."

The unfolding situation raises critical questions about national security and the measures taken to prevent individuals with extremist ties from operating within the United States. As the case develops, the implications for immigration policy and national security remain at the forefront of public discourse.
