In a significant development, President Donald Trump's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has apprehended nearly 500,000 illegal aliens over the past nine months, as disclosed by Secretary Kristi Noem.
A substantial portion of these individuals face criminal charges or have been convicted of crimes.
During a press conference in Sarasota, Florida, Noem stated, "Since January, the Department of Homeland Security has arrested over 480,000 criminal illegal aliens 70 percent of those individuals have criminal charges against them or have been convicted of those criminal charges," as reported by Breitbart.
Noem emphasized that both DHS and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are prioritizing the most dangerous offenders, asserting, "We are not going to let these individuals terrorize our streets anymore and were not going to let them make victims out of families that live in this country."
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Noem cited several recent arrests. Among them is Erick Carlos Artiles Ramos, an illegal alien from Cuba with a history of serious offenses, including homicide and armed carjacking. Despite a deportation order issued by a federal immigration judge in 2008,
Artiles Ramos evaded capture until recently. Similarly, Oscar Alfredo Retana Marroquin from El Salvador, who had been deported twice, was apprehended following convictions for sexual assault of a child and driving under the influence.
The efforts of ICE also led to the arrest of Arturo Sanchez Morales from Mexico, who had previously been deported and had a final deportation order from 2019. His criminal record includes convictions for lewd acts with a minor and incest. Additionally, Lelis Reinaldo Bejarano-Zeron from Honduras, deported twice, was detained after a domestic violence conviction.
These cases underscore the administration's commitment to safeguarding American communities by enforcing immigration laws and addressing criminal activities perpetrated by illegal aliens.
