The Kremlin expressed its approval on Tuesday for President Donald Trump's commitment to seeking a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

This follows his successful negotiation of a ceasefire in Gaza. The Kremlin voiced its hope that President Trump would be able to guide Kyiv towards a peaceful settlement.

As reported by Newsmax Media, President Trump, while addressing the Israeli Knesset on Monday after facilitating a deal between Israel and Hamas, expressed his intention to negotiate a deal with Iran concerning its nuclear program. However, he emphasized that his immediate focus would be on resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

"first we have to get Russia done. We gotta get that one done. If you don't mind, Steve, let's focus on Russia first," Trump stated, directing his words to Steve Witkoff, his special envoy who has previously engaged in discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's spokesperson, confirmed Russia's willingness to engage in peace talks. Responding to Trump's comments, Peskov said, "We certainly welcome such intentions and we welcome the confirmation of the political will to do everything possible to promote the search for peaceful solutions."

He further praised Witkoff's effectiveness, particularly in the Middle East, and expressed hope that his skills would contribute to the ongoing efforts in Ukraine.

The Kremlin has accused Ukraine of delaying negotiations and failing to follow through on the proposal to establish working groups to explore potential aspects of a deal. Conversely, Ukraine has accused Moscow of not being serious about a deal and of proposing conditions that are essentially a demand for Ukraine's surrender.

"The Russian side remains open and ready for peaceful dialog, and we hope that the influence of the United States and the diplomatic skills of President Trump's envoys will help encourage the Ukrainian side to be more active and more willing to engage in the peace process," Peskov stated.

However, Peskov also noted that dialog with the U.S. concerning Ukraine has stalled. Meanwhile, President Trump has hinted at the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles, a move that Moscow has warned would be seen as a dangerous escalation.

The Kremlin's welcoming of President Trump's commitment to peace in Ukraine underscores the importance of diplomatic efforts in resolving conflicts. It also highlights the role of the United States in influencing international negotiations. While the path to peace may be fraught with challenges, the expressed willingness of both sides to engage in dialogue is a positive step towards a potential resolution.

As the situation continues to unfold, the world will be watching closely to see if President Trump's diplomatic skills can indeed bring about a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
