In a recent bilateral meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, President Donald Trump delivered a scathing critique of his predecessor, Barack Obama, and the Nobel Committee.
Trump contrasted his own accomplishments with those of Obama, who he claimed had done "absolutely nothing but destroying our country."
"Obama got a prize for doing nothing," Trump declared, adding that Obama "didn't even know" why he had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He went on to label Joe Biden as the "worst president," but maintained that Obama was not a good president either.
As reported by Gateway Pundit, the meeting between Trump and Stubb also saw the approval of a deal for the United States to purchase 11 icebreaker Arctic Cutter ships. This move is seen as a strategic step to navigate the icy waters of the Arctic and counteract the presence of China and Russia in the region.
During the meeting, Trump was questioned about his chances of winning a Nobel Peace Prize, following the announcement of a peace deal between Hamas and Israel. This deal, if successful, could secure a lasting peace in the Middle East. Trump highlighted his record of resolving eight wars in a short span of time, stating, "Nobody's done eight wars in 30 years, let alone nine months."
Trump's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize has been endorsed by several foreign leaders and American officials. This year saw a total of 338 nominations, including 244 individuals and 94 organizations, according to Fox News. The winner of the Peace Prize will be announced on Friday.
Trump also announced the first phase of a peace deal between Israel and Hamas. He stated on Truth Social, "Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace," and added that "all hostages will be released very soon." It is reported that there are currently 20 living hostages in Hamas custody.
Trump also revealed his plans to travel to Egypt to officially sign the agreement, expressing optimism about its potential to bring about a "lasting peace, hopefully an everlasting peace."
In addition to the Middle East, Trump is also focused on resolving the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has been ongoing for nearly four years. "I think they'll be coming to the table pretty soon," he told reporters. "We'll get that solved too."
When asked about his chances of winning the Nobel Peace Prize, Trump responded by highlighting his achievements in resolving long-standing conflicts. He mentioned wars that had been ongoing for 31, 34, 35, and 10 years, all of which he claimed to have solved. He also pointed out the potential for a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, describing it as a "ridiculous war" and "the worst since World War Two."
Trump also emphasized his role in preventing a potential conflict between India and Pakistan, two nuclear nations. He credited his use of trade and tariffs as the key to this achievement, stating, "If we didn't have tariffs, you wouldn't have been able to do it."
In response to a reporter's comment that Obama had received the Nobel Peace Prize for less than what Trump had achieved, the President reiterated his critique of Obama and the Nobel Committee. He asserted that Obama had received the prize simply for being elected, and suggested that his race may have played a role in the decision.
"My election was a much more important election," Trump concluded, underscoring his belief in the significance of his own achievements in comparison to those of his predecessor.
