A convicted felon has been arrested regarding the death of 29-year-old Lauren Heike.
When her body was discovered, police thought she had been chased through a barbed wire fence. The murderer stabbed her fifteen times in her back and chest after stalking her.
According to The Daily Mail, Court documents obtained by DailyMail.com reveal that Zion William Teasley, 22, was captured on surveillance footage following Lauren Heike, 29, for some time on April 28.
The evidence continues to point the finger at Teasley. Not only was he caught on camera stalking her, but he was also caught returning to the crime scene. Before the attack, he was fired for being aggressive toward females and stealing.
DNA linked to Teasley was discovered on a shoe Lauren lost while trying to scale the barbed wire fence. The DNA made tracking him down easy because they already had a sample in the computer due to a previous conviction. His last employer and probation officer identified the suspect from the footage. Phone data put him in the location, too.
During an interview, he said that he struggled with his sexuality and was not arrested for a sex crime because itd been so long since hed been with anyone. Several people the suspect previously worked with confirmed that he had a knife, the murder weapon.
Per The Daily Mail, Teasley was released from prison in November after being sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to robbery with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct, and robbery in June 2020.
The suspect has been charged with breaking his probation and one count of first-degree murder. He may face the death penalty if found guilty of the charges.
Teasley did join the Marines in 2019 but dropped out after four months. A spokesperson for the Marine Corps verified this information and let the public know that the suspect was not on active duty during the incident.
