During a press interaction on Wednesday, Pelosi was questioned about Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (AOC) proposition to the GOP, suggesting they negotiate directly with her concerning the ongoing government shutdown.
According to Sean Hannity, a reporter inquired of Pelosi, "There was a thought from the Republicans that said AOC is directing this, and she said Senators are welcome to go to her office directly do you think theres any credibility to that?"
Pelosi responded with evident frustration, dismissing the notion outright. "Why are you saying such a ridiculous thing? She is not directing this. She is wonderful and a real team player and the rest she is not directing this Hakeem Jeffries is," Pelosi asserted.
AOC had initially made her offer to the GOP public on MSNBC, stating they are "Free to negotiate with me directly." This move by AOC underscores a shift in influence within the Democratic Party, as younger, more progressive voices like hers gain prominence.
