Barbra Streisand, the celebrated Hollywood actress and singer, has transitioned into a political commentator, voicing her discontent with President Donald Trump.

Streisand has taken to social media to rally support for actress Jane Fonda's initiative to revive the Committee for the First Amendment, a group originally established to combat the blacklisting of artists during the McCarthy era.

In an open letter shared on Instagram, Streisand expressed her concerns about the current state of America, which she describes as being "in deep trouble under Trumps regime." She addressed Fonda directly, emphasizing the entertainment industry's historical role in advocating for democracy and free speech.

"Dear Jane," Streisand wrote, "We are indeed in deep trouble under Trumps regime. The entertainment community has always had strong and powerful artists standing up for democracy and freedom of speech. Our voices are always stronger together."

According to Breitbart, the Committee for the First Amendment was initially formed in the 1940s, with Jane Fonda's father, Henry Fonda, as one of its original members. The group aimed to challenge the blacklisting practices of the time.

Although it disbanded after its initial efforts, Jane Fonda is now leading a movement to revive the committee, citing her father's legacy as motivation. This resurgence comes as supporters perceive increased pressure on critics from President Trump and his administration.

Streisand's message underscores her pride in being part of the entertainment community and her commitment to the cause. She concluded her letter with a nod to the past and a hopeful outlook for the future, stating, "Im proud to be part of our community and this committee in 2025, as sad as this is, to be reliving the 1950s. Jane, I appreciate your continued activism and voice in these scary times. With hope for the future, Barbra."
