Eric Trump, son of President Donald Trump, recently shared insights into how his father utilized humor to lighten the mood following an assassination attempt during the 2024 campaign in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In an interview on Thursday, Eric recounted the immediate aftermath of the incident, highlighting his father's unique approach to handling adversity.

"I was the first person he called after Butler. Right, I mean, they shot his ear off. They almost took off his head. And like the first thing he says to try and bring levity, when I want to literally fight the entire world because I was so pissed off at what happened, was something about having the worst earache in the history of the world," Eric Trump shared with the "Ruthless Podcast" hosts.

He further noted, "I think he equated it to Tyson and Holyfield. The guys always been able to bring kind of levity to dark situations. And I actually think thats like a great, like, disarming tool, if that makes sense."

According to Fox News, the incident occurred on July 13, 2024, when President Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally. The attack tragically resulted in the death of one attendee and injuries to two others.

Despite the gravity of the situation, President Trump returned to Butler three months later, on October 5, 2024, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to his supporters.

Eric Trump highlighted his father's return to the rally site as a testament to his character. "There are times where people are uncomfortable. I mean, when he went out at Butler, when he returned to Butler, you know, as I was saying, right, that wasnt what was expected. It was far, and the place just starts chanting, USA, USA," he remarked.

President Trump's speech in Butler began with gratitude towards Pennsylvania supporters and a light-hearted reference to the assassination attempt, stating, "And as I was saying."

Eric Trump also emphasized his father's departure from traditional political norms, describing him as a figure who defied political correctness and resonated with many Americans.

"And, finally, you had a guy go out there, and he was un-PC [politically correct], totally politically incorrect. He said what was on his mind. He said what everybody was thinking. He wasn't afraid. He didn't back down. He had backbone. And Americans instantly, especially the tough guys, right, I mean, especially people with like a little, you know, like they appreciated a little bit of the bravado and the lack of staleness," he explained.

President Trump's ability to connect with the public through candidness and humor, even in the face of danger, underscores his enduring appeal to many Americans who value authenticity and strength in leadership.
