Pam Bondi Demands Full Investigation Into Police After Explosive Nick Sortor Arrest

Attorney General Pam Bondi has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the Portland Police Department following the arrest of journalist Nick Sortor.

Sortor was apprehended while reporting on Antifa-related disturbances at an ICE facility in Portland. This move by Bondi underscores a commitment to scrutinize the actions of law enforcement in situations involving media personnel.

Sortor took to X to announce the development, stating, "Attorney General Pam Bondi has ORDERED a full investigation, led by Asst. AG Harmeet Dhillon, of the Portland Police Bureau, following my wrongful arrest last night, Bondi confirmed to me."

He further expressed his gratitude, saying, "FAFO, Portland Police. Bondi personally called me to deliver this news, and Im incredibly grateful to her for doing so. The Trump DOJ WILL NOT allow Portland Police to continue to do the bidding of Antifa."

According to The Post Millennial, this investigation aims to address concerns about the police department's handling of protests and its interactions with journalists.

Sortor's arrest occurred on Thursday evening as he documented Antifa agitators at the ICE facility. Fox News' Bill Melugin, who spoke with Sortor after his release, reported that Sortor was capturing footage of protesters being maced by federal agents.

Sortor described the scene as embarrassing for the protesters, who were visibly distressed. He recounted being surrounded by individuals, pushed into a flower bed, and subsequently involved in a physical altercation. "He says he swung back and missed, then disengaged and walked over to a group of Portland PD," Melugin noted.

Sortor expressed surprise at being arrested by the police, who deliberated on charges while he sat in a cruiser. Melugin also mentioned a female protester arrested alongside Sortor, whom Sortor did not believe was responsible for the assault.

This incident involving Sortor follows closely on the heels of another troubling event where The Post Millennial's Katie Daviscourt was assaulted by an Antifa militant. Despite Daviscourt's efforts to alert the police and identify the assailant, the suspect was not immediately apprehended.

The department later sought public assistance to identify the individual responsible for the attack on Daviscourt. These incidents raise significant questions about the safety of journalists covering volatile protests and the efficacy of law enforcement in protecting press freedom.
