Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has recently intensified his criticism of Netflix, citing the streaming giant's alleged anti-conservative bias and its promotion of a children's cartoon featuring a transgender character.
Musk's call to action, urging his followers to "cancel Netflix for the health of your kids," has sparked a heated debate on social media.
According to the Western Journal, Musk's criticism was initially triggered by a meme portraying Netflix as a vehicle for promoting the transgender agenda. This came in response to a cartoon clip from the series "Dead End: Paranormal Park," which Musk deemed unacceptable.
The series features a character named Barney Guttman who reveals his transgender identity to his friend Norma, stating, "I'm trans, Norma. Being here, it's like a whole new place. I can just be Barney, and I can choose if and when I tell people."
The character further emphasizes his newfound happiness and the importance of living life "without apology." The cartoon, as reported by Forbes, is marketed to children aged seven and above, a fact that has drawn criticism from conservative circles, including Musk.
The controversy surrounding Netflix extends beyond its programming. A chart posted by Libs of TikTok, which Musk shared, accuses Netflix of openly discriminating against white people. The chart indicates that in 2023, 71.4 percent of Netflix series featured an "underrepresented" lead or co-lead, compared to the industry average of 58.1 percent.
Further fueling the fire, Hamish Steele, the director of "Dead End: Paranormal Park," allegedly responded to a post by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer with a derogatory comment about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Steele has since denied the allegations, stating on Bluesky, "It's all lies and slander! Netflix is NOT promoting [the show] at the moment!"
Musk's call to cancel Netflix subscriptions has resonated with some conservatives, including Matt Van Swol, who declared he had canceled his subscription. Van Swol stated, "If you employ someone who celebrated the murder of Charlie Kirk and makes content that pushes pro-trans content on my kids, you will NEVER get a dime of my money."
Following Musk's call, Netflix's stock price reportedly fell 2.3 percent, as reported by Investing.com.
Musk's criticism of Netflix and the so-called "woke mind virus" is deeply personal. One of his sons, now in his early 20s, identifies as a woman, a transition Musk blames on transgender indoctrination.
In a conversation with Jordan Peterson last summer, Musk lamented, "People that have been promoting this should go to prison I lost my son, essentially. They call it deadnaming for a reason. The reason its called deadnaming is because your son is dead. So my son Xavier is dead, killed by the woke mind virus."
Musk's vow to "destroy the woke mind virus" underscores his commitment to conservative values and his opposition to what he perceives as a liberal agenda being pushed by platforms like Netflix. The debate surrounding Netflix's programming and its alleged bias continues, highlighting the ongoing cultural and political divide in society.
