WATCH: ESPN Analyst Slams 'Mount Rushmore' Comparison In Sports, Calling It OFFENSIVE

Jay Williams, an NBA analyst for ESPN, made some waves with a recent comment regarding Mount Rushmore.

Fox News reports that Williams stated that he has issues with using the term Mount Rushmore when describing some of the best of the best players in the game.

Williams took issue when Stephen A. Smith (another ESPN analyst) stated that Stephen Curry could knock off LeBron James from the Mount Rushmore of NBA basketball if Curry can defeat James in the playoff series that the two are engaged in now. It seems that Williams was mostly upset with using the term Mount Rushmore to talk about the series between these two elite players.

Williams said the following via Awful Announcing: Can we first off just stop with the Mount Rushmore talk, and continued by saying: Theyre not even the four best presidents this country has ever had. Everyone in this room was not even able to vote. I just want to say that off the top. Thats our metric for success? Thats our king?

Jalen Rose, a colleague of Williams, had a similar take on using the Mount Rushmore term when talking about elite athletes in the NBA and beyond.

Rose took it to another level by saying the Mount Rushmore term was offensive. He even said he wanted to cancel the term because Mount Rushmore was built on the bodies of Native Americans.

Rose tweeted a video saying, Can we retire using Mount Rushmore? That should be offensive to all of us, especially Native Americans, Indigenous people who were the first people here before Christopher Columbus.

He continued in the video by saying: That land was stolen from them when it was discovered that it contained gold."

Finally, he wrapped up the video by saying: And 25 years later, to add insult to injury, four American presidents were put on what we call Mount Rushmore on the top of the dead bodies that is buried right underneath. So, I call for you and for myself I'm owning this, too let's stop using the term 'Mount Rushmore' when we're talking about our favorite rappers, talking about our favorite movies, talking about our favorite players.
