In the forthcoming Florida gubernatorial race, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) is emerging as a strong contender for the position, bolstered by the endorsement of 15 prominent Florida sheriffs.
This support underscores Donalds' positioning as the "law and order" candidate, a crucial aspect in the current political climate. Donalds, who has also received the backing of President Donald Trump, is vying to succeed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who is unable to seek re-election due to term limits.
According to Breitbart, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco, one of the 15 sheriffs endorsing Donalds, expressed his belief that Donalds is the leader Florida needs at this critical juncture. Nocco stated, "Donalds is the leader that Florida needs in this moment, as we work and stand with President Trump to implement the mandate he received from the American people and the citizens of our great state of Florida."
Nocco further expressed his confidence in Donalds' commitment to law enforcement and his innovative approach to job creation, education improvement, and economic competitiveness.
Nocco also highlighted the legacy of previous Florida governors, stating, "Florida has been blessed to have a fantastic legacy of Governors with Governor Rick Scott and Governor Ron DeSantis. I know future Governor Byron Donalds will continue that legacy and he will keep making Florida great."
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey echoed these sentiments, describing Donalds as a "proven no-nonsense champion for law enforcement who will always put our citizens, our cops, and our constitution first!" Ivey emphasized Donalds' commitment to combating crime and his refusal to tolerate policies that enable criminals to roam freely.
The list of endorsing sheriffs includes representatives from Bradford, Brevard, Collier, Duval, Hendry, Hillsborough, Indian River, Jackson, Lee, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Pasco, St. Lucie, and Wakulla counties.
In response to this endorsement, Donalds expressed his gratitude and reiterated his commitment to law and order, pledging to make Florida the safest state in the nation. He also emphasized his dedication to protecting Floridians from "criminal illegal aliens."
This endorsement follows a successful polling period for Donalds. A September survey from the American Promise showed Donalds leading his potential primary opponents. The survey revealed that 40 percent of respondents favored Donalds, while 54 percent remained unsure.
However, when voters were informed about each candidate, including Donald Trump's endorsement of Donalds, his support surged to 57 percent.
In a recent conversation with Breitbart News Saturday, Donalds addressed the radical element within the Democrat Party, arguing for the need to confront and address this issue.
He stated, "The radical left is just crazy. They have no policy. All they do is blame shift, deflect, call names... They need to fix this in their party. They have a rogue element that does not believe in the Constitution, does not believe in free speech, does not believe in the Bill of Rights, but then does believe in dehumanizing people to the point where, obviously with whats happened with Charlie, people lose their lives just for speaking their mind and having a political viewpoint, having a religious viewpoint, having a Western civilization worldview."
Donalds' campaign, bolstered by these endorsements and his strong polling performance, underscores his commitment to law and order, economic growth, and traditional values. His stance against radical elements and his dedication to preserving the Constitution and the Bill of Rights align with the conservative perspective, marking him as a candidate to watch in the upcoming gubernatorial race.
