Hegseth's Latest Move: Do We Sense A Bit Of 'Pentagon Panic'?

Written by Published

In an unusual move, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has summoned all top-ranking U.S. military commanders from around the globe to gather at Quantico Marine Corps Base next week.

This unexpected meeting, with no disclosed agenda, is set to involve approximately 800 general officers and admirals, along with their senior enlisted advisers. The directive states, All general officers in command in grade O-7 through O-10 and their general officer senior enlisted advisers are directed to attend within operational constraints.

According to RedState, this unprecedented meeting has sparked a wave of speculation and concern within the military ranks. The absence of a published agenda and the directive for each command's senior noncommissioned officer to attend suggests that personnel issues may be a topic of discussion.

The secrecy surrounding the meeting could also indicate that sensitive matters are on the table, with Hegseth potentially seeking fresh perspectives rather than facing a united front from the general officer flag officer (GOFO) community.

The military has been grappling with issues of extremism within its ranks, as highlighted by the assassination of Charlie Kirk. However, the problem does not stem from stereotypical sources such as individuals displaying Confederate flags on their trucks.

Instead, it is the radical elements within the military, characterized by a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), that pose a significant threat.

Hegseth may also address the widespread non-compliance and deliberate defiance undermining the policies he and his team are trying to implement. For example, despite orders for their discharge, transgender military members continue to receive promotions. This defiance is not limited to the issue of transgender service members.

There have been instances where individuals have been reinstated into the Armed Forces after being expelled for refusing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Furthermore, DEI training on insider threats persists, despite Hegseth's order to halt such practices. On Sept. 9, DEI instructor Brian Van Brunt and colleagues were hired by U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters at the Pentagon to conduct training on the perceived risks of incel (involuntary celibacy) violence.

The Judge Advocate General Corps, known for its leftist leanings, has managed to withstand attempts to curb its influence. They have rebounded, more committed to their ideologies and more defiant than ever.

They openly discuss strategies to bypass Department of War directives and frequently label their commanders, who are following lawful orders from the Secretary of War, as "nazis" and "war criminals."

While the exact purpose of this meeting remains unclear, it is evident that this is not a casual gathering. Hegseth intends to communicate a message to all commanders and their senior noncommissioned officers, and he wants them to hear it directly from him.

This move underscores the challenges facing the military as it navigates the complexities of modern warfare, personnel management, and ideological diversity within its ranks.
