Chicago Grapples With Surging Crime As Memphis Embraces National Guard With Open Arms And Hot Meals

In the face of staunch opposition from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is making strides in the state.

Through Operation Midway Blitz, ICE is successfully apprehending illegal immigrants with criminal records. This comes after a violent gang member was released from prison, despite an active ICE detainer, only to be captured by ICE within three days, as reported by my colleague Ward Clark.

According to RedState, despite the removal of these illegal elements, crime remains rampant in the Chicago area. A recent incident saw two individuals murdered in broad daylight in front of a middle school, with the shooter subsequently taking his own life.

Berwyn police responded to the scene, finding a man in a vehicle firing a rifle into another vehicle and at the officers. The man then turned the gun on himself after fatally shooting two people in the other vehicle. The police are treating this as a "domestic-related" isolated incident.

Berwyn police Cmdr. Michael Fellows stated during a news conference, At this time were still working on identifying all the victims involved. No students or staff were hurt in any way. ... This is a very rare occasion in Berwyn.

Thankfully, no students or school staff were caught in the crossfire. However, the fact that such violence is not a "rare occasion" in the area is a damning indictment of the state's elected officials.

The Proverbs 29:2 verse, "When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan," seems to resonate with the people of Illinois. The collective groaning is a reflection of the dissatisfaction with the state's leadership, particularly with Pritzker and Johnson, who are perceived to be playing political games with people's lives.

Meanwhile, in Memphis, the arrival of the National Guard is being met with anticipation and gratitude. Local restaurants are even offering free meals to the service members in appreciation for their efforts to combat the city's crime problem.

Mandy Edwards, a manager at Elwoods Shack, one of the restaurants offering free meals, said, It is just a way to get people more involved, and they are going to be here anyway. They love it, I think supporting people who do what they do for the country it always a good thing.

The contrast between the situations in Illinois and Memphis is stark. While it remains to be seen how the intervention in Memphis will impact the city, if the shift is as dramatic as it has been in Washington, D.C., Pritzker and Johnson may find themselves regretting their resistance to federal intervention.

The days of lawlessness in Washington, D.C. are over, thanks to President Trump's efforts to restore law and order. The nation's capital is once again a safe place, and it is hoped that the same can be achieved in other cities across the country.

The fight to restore law and order continues, and the efforts of President Trump in this regard are commendable.
