The United States is taking decisive action against non-citizens who have expressed support for the tragic shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed that the State Department is in the process of revoking visas for those individuals. Rubio made this announcement on X, sharing a clip from a Fox News interview where he stated, We are not in the business of inviting people to visit our country who are going to be involved in negative and destructive behavior.
He further emphasized, America will not host foreigners who celebrate the death of our fellow citizens.
According to Breitbart, Kirk, a prominent figure on the right and a staunch ally of President Donald Trump, was shot and killed during a speaking engagement at a Utah university. The incident has sparked outrage among conservatives, who have condemned the online criticism of Kirk following his death.
In response, Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau urged the public to report any non-citizens who are praising, rationalizing or making light of the event on social media to the State Department.
President Trump has attributed Kirk's death to the actions of the "radical left" and has pledged to take action against those who promote political violence. This includes targeting organizations that are believed to fund and support such activities.
Vice President JD Vance, speaking on Kirks podcast from the White House, urged the public to expose those celebrating Kirks death, saying, Call them out, and hell, call their employer. We dont believe in political violence but we do believe in civility. And there is no civility in the celebration of political assassination.
This move by the Trump administration is part of a broader effort to address political violence and maintain order. The administration has previously revoked visas over social media comments supporting Palestine amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Furthermore, the State Department announced in June that it would incorporate social media vetting into its overseas visa application process. This initiative underscores the administration's commitment to ensuring that those who enter the United States uphold the values of civility and respect for life, particularly in the face of political differences.
