In a recent episode of "The Chris Cuomo Project," NewsNation host Chris Cuomo took aim at Elon Musk, the CEO of X, for his controversial remarks following the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA.
Musk had stirred the pot by declaring on X, "The Left is the party of murder," after Kirk was fatally shot while addressing students at Utah Valley University. Cuomo, in a fervent critique of social media's corrosive impact, accused Musk of lacking moral integrity, suggesting he wouldn't be shocked if Musk were to meet a violent end.
Cuomo's scathing assessment of Musk was unrestrained. "He's the stupidest genius I've ever been around. And no, I'm not going to excuse it because he's autistic. I have a lot of autistic people in my life," Cuomo stated.
"They are not all morally bankrupt, ok? They dont all say the stupidest thing at the worst time. I dont know what its about with him. And I dont give a shit to be honest. He has, in my opinion, exhausted his usefulness."
According to the Daily Caller, Cuomo continued, "Now, does that mean he should be murdered? No, because thats not how I see the value of human life. But would I be surprised? No. I wouldnt be surprised if its me. I mean, thats where we are. Its who we are. Thats who we are."
Musk, not one to shy away from confrontation, responded to Cuomo's remarks on X, asserting, "By implying that I might be murdered by the radical left, Cuomo is exactly proving my point!" This exchange underscores the heightened tensions surrounding public discourse and the potential consequences of incendiary rhetoric.
In a conversation with Joe Rogan on "The Joe Rogan Experience" earlier this year, Musk expressed his apprehensions about the media's portrayal of him, fearing it might provoke violence. During his tenure as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under President Donald Trump, Musk faced a barrage of death threats, a consequence of his aggressive cost-cutting measures. "
At this point, I think Im at the top of the list for a lot of homicidal maniacs," Musk confided to Rogan. "Theyre doing the same thing to me that they did to Trump, which is that theyre making it sound like if you kill me, youre a hero."
Adding to the discourse, research from the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) in April revealed that a significant portion of "left of center" individuals, 48% and 55% respectively, were "at least somewhat justifying murder for Elon Musk and President Trump."
This data highlights the deepening divide and the alarming normalization of violence in political rhetoric.
