Speaker Mike Johnson recently addressed and clarified his remarks concerning President Donald Trump's alleged involvement as an FBI informant in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
The conversation arose after CNN's Manu Raju questioned Johnson about President Trump's characterization of the Epstein case as a hoax. Johnson responded by emphasizing that the President's comments were directed at the Democrats, whom he accused of exploiting the situation for political gain.
Johnson elaborated, stating, "What hes talking about is the Democrats who are doing this with impure motives. If they cared so much about this, why didnt they do something during the four years of the Biden administration when the Biden DOJ had all the records."
According to Gateway Pundit, Johnson further explained that President Trump has consistently condemned Epstein's actions as "a terrible, unspeakable evil" and has never suggested otherwise. Johnson recounted that upon learning of the allegations, Trump expelled Epstein from Mar-a-Lago and even cooperated with the FBI to dismantle Epstein's operations.
The Speaker underscored the President's empathy for the victims, stating, "The President knows and has great sympathy for the women who have suffered these unspeakable harms. Its detestable to him."
Johnson criticized the Democrats for their alleged political motivations, comparing their actions to the Russian dossier incident, and asserted that President Trump remains uninvolved and untainted by the scandal. "He has no culpability in this thing at all. The president has clean hands. He wants all the records out," Johnson affirmed.
In a subsequent statement to the Washington Post, Johnson sought to clarify his earlier comments regarding Trump's role as an informant. He reiterated, "The Speaker is reiterating what the victims attorney said, which is that Donald Trump, who kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago, was the only one more than a decade ago willing to help prosecutors expose Epstein for being a disgusting child predator."
This clarification aims to dispel any misconceptions about President Trump's involvement in the Epstein case, emphasizing his proactive stance against Epstein's crimes and his willingness to assist law enforcement efforts. Johnson's remarks highlight the ongoing political tensions surrounding the case and the broader implications for those involved.
