Not So "Sunny:" Controversy Heats Up As "The View" Co-Hosts Clash BIGTIME Over Trump

Sunny Hostin, co-host of "The View," expressed her disgust over CNN's decision to provide a platform for former President Donald Trump's first televised town hall of the 2024 election cycle.

During the show, Hostin questioned the purpose of the town hall and criticized CNN for giving a platform to a person she believes is an insurrectionist, liar, bigot, racist, sexist, and twice impeached.

She also pointed out that Trump is currently a criminal defendant and likely to be a criminal defendant in two other jurisdictions and has a history of grabbing women by their genitals. Hostin argued that CNN should not give "that type of person" a platform.

Co-host Joy Behar, an outspoken critic of the former President, disagreed with Hostin, stating that Trump is the front-runner for the Republican Party and that the town hall is an opportunity for him to answer direct questions about his beliefs.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin also supported the town hall, citing the vital public interest in hearing from a candidate who received 74 million votes in the previous election.

Co-host Sara Haines echoed Griffin's sentiments, stating that the media's job is to ask questions, push back, and challenge and that it is not their decision regarding who people vote for. Behar claimed that the media gave Trump a pass during his first campaign and that they did not know what he was really about.

Whoopi Goldberg added that everyone has the choice to watch or not watch the town hall and that CNN has put up all kinds of candidates in the past.

Regardless of their opinions, the co-hosts agreed that the media's job is to provide information and challenge candidates and that it is up to the viewers to decide whether or not to watch the town hall.
