Geraldo Rivera, a left-wing personality on Fox News, recently said that the AR in AR-15 stands for automatic rifle.
Blaze News said that Rivera suggested this was the case after Greg Gutfeld asked Rivera what the AR in AR-15 stood for.
Rivera said owning an AR-15 was all about looking macho and that there was no legitimate need to own one except perhaps to be used at a sporting club. The Daily Caller couldnt help but respond to this interaction with a tweet of their own that read:
Those most passionate about gun control tend to know the least about guns,
Rivera responded to that tweet with one of his own:
Heard the Daily Caller and fellow travelers are ranting about my incorrect definition on-air of AR as in AR-15. Whatever. The point is there is no place (other than sporting clubs and similar skilled settings) for assault rifles. They substitute appendages,
NPR has clarified that the AR in AR-15 refers back to ArmaLite Rifle.
The AR-15 guns created today are semi-automatic weapons and a point of contention in society, with many arguing for a ban on firearms.
Rivera has often made many left-wing types of comments and offered left-wing opinions. For example, in 2021, Rivera said that Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York outshines every other member of Congress in eloquence and passionate sincerity.
He also described Liz Cheney as a once-in-a-lifetime hero. Note that Cheney voted to impeach former President Donald Trump for the events on January 6, 2021. She became a left-wing hero for being one of a tiny minority of Republicans that voted in favor of impeachment. Cheney took it a step further by chairing the January 6 Commission set up to investigate the events of that day.
She got plenty of airtime for her committee chairing, and many Democrats began to fawn over Cheney for what she did in this instance. Rivera counts himself among the people who are also fawning over Cheney. Whatever the case may be, many saw what Rivera did and said while on Fox News and believe that he is nothing more but a cheerleader for the left. Why should his opinions on gun control be given serious consideration? Many dont think that his views are worthy of careful consideration.
