An investigation spearheaded by James OKeefes OKeefe Media Group (OMG) has uncovered significant financial contributions from major corporations to the Vera Institute for Justice.
This organization is known for its efforts to monitor federal immigration enforcement and aid illegal immigrants in evading deportation. Among the corporate giants implicated are Goldman Sachs, Fidelity, Bank of America, and Universal Music Group, which have collectively funneled millions into Vera's operations.
According to The Post Millennial, Goldman Sachs has contributed a substantial $5 million, while Fidelity has donated $1.3 million. Bank of America and Universal Music Group have also supported the institute with $250,000 and $50,000, respectively.
These revelations emerged from undercover footage featuring Vera Institute Policy Advisor Santiago Mueckay, who candidly disclosed that the nonprofit tracks ICE movements and disseminates this information to assist individuals in eluding federal agents. Mueckay further revealed that influential figures such as Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates have provided financial backing to the organization.
The Vera Institute's website outlines its opposition to "over-policing" and "over-enforcing" in black communities, aligning itself with the Black Lives Matter movement and advocating for policies aimed at defunding the police. This stance raises questions about the broader implications of corporate support for such initiatives, particularly in light of the organization's controversial activities.
In a related development, additional undercover footage released by OMG features Keane Bhatt, a policy advisor for the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Bhatt disclosed that caucus members have actively sought to obstruct deportations through legal channels. In certain cases weve been able to win,
Bhatt stated, noting that the caucus has secured injunctions to halt deportation flights and other enforcement actions. He elaborated on the caucus's collaboration with community initiatives, advising individuals on how to resist federal agents and protect their rights.
Bhatt also criticized agencies like ICE and Homeland Security, accusing them of engaging in cruelty and portraying themselves as an authoritarian police force intent on disrupting immigrant communities. This perspective underscores the ideological divide between progressive and conservative viewpoints on immigration enforcement.
OMG's report highlights the significant corporate funding of non-governmental organizations like Vera, which, in turn, pursue policies that hinder deportation efforts. Meanwhile, congressional insiders acknowledge their role in securing legal injunctions and guiding communities on how to resist federal authorities.
This investigation raises critical questions about the influence of corporate money in shaping immigration policy and the broader implications for national sovereignty and security.
