Ella Emhoff, stepdaughter of Kamala Harris, recently took to TikTok to voice her profound concerns about climate change.
In a six-minute video, Emhoff candidly shared her feelings of "disgust" and anxiety regarding the current environmental situation, describing the emotional burden as "very heavy."
"Like everyone, I feel disgust at whats going on in the world. Genocides, the loss of lives, the loss of healthcare, the just general fear that everyone has surrounding affordability, their lives, their livelihood. Like, everything. Its just, it feels so big. I think everything with the environment is really fucking getting to me and it is one I experience. A lot of climate anxiety like a lot of us do. Its not funny," Emhoff expressed.
According to the Daily Caller, Emhoff's father, Doug, had an estimated net worth of $6 million in 2024, while her stepmother, Kamala Harris, served as vice president from January 20, 2021, to January 20, 2025. The combined net worth of Harris and Emhoff exceeds $8 million, largely attributed to their Los Angeles property holdings.
For decades, the political left has been vocal about the dangers of climate change, often amplifying public fears. MSNBC panelist Anand Giridharadas recently remarked that he is more "afraid" of climate change than of being mugged in Washington, D.C., despite a series of high-profile crimes in the district throughout 2025.
Emhoff also recounted her emotional experience when voting for Democratic New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani. She described the act of returning to the polling station where she previously voted for her stepmother as "a little traumatic," yet expressed optimism for the future. "It was a little traumatic walking to the same voting place as I did in November, but I feel so much hope for New York and what @zohrankmamdani will bring," she stated.
Ella Emhoff is the daughter of Doug Emhoff and his first wife, Kersten Mackin. Their marriage ended in divorce following Doug's affair with the nanny, which resulted in a pregnancy. This personal history adds another layer to Emhoff's public persona, as she navigates her role in the political and social spheres.
